According to CatWalkChatt.com Catoosa County is getting a Kroger on Battlefield Parkway. Yeah! Looks like we will have some competition in the area. According to different sites on the internet Bi-Lo is for sale and Publix and Kroger are interested. Regardless, it appears there will be some changes in grocery competition in the North GA/Chattanooga area soon.

Ten Ways to Save on Groceries Without Coupons

This is a guest post by Budget Savvy Diva! I love her site!

1. Did you know that the highest markup items on the shelves are at
about chest level because it is the perfect height for you to just reach
out and pick it up? So reach up or kneel down to select the cheaper
house or generic brands.

2. Don’t waste money on prepared foods. Instead, prepare meals ahead
of time and freeze them, or double a recipe when cooking, and freeze
the second for a hectic day coming up.

3. Try and shop early in the day. You get through the store faster with
your list and spend less.

4. Avoid shopping for food when you’re hungry; you’ll buy more.
5. Avoid purchasing non-grocery items, such as painkillers, contact lens
solution, etc., at a grocery store. You usually pay more.

6. Don’t be fooled by familiar products, such as cereal, that have
decreased package sizes while keeping prices constant, the food
industry’s latest response to rising costs.

7. Buy on the markdowns and save as much as 20 percent.

8. Trim your food bill by as much as 19 percent simply by shopping at a
couple of different stores.

9. Check your receipts. No matter how careful you or the store staff might
be, mistakes can happen.

10. Know when your store marks down goods (usually a Wednesday for
grocery stores) that expire, like meat and bread. The deal: Use them
that night or freeze them.

For more tips and tricks to save money the easy way make sure to check out
Budget Savvy Diva.

Pop Century

I have never stayed off property….so if you have please feel free to comment and share your experience or favorite place to stay.

WDW offers 3 levels of resort: Value, Moderate and Deluxe and as you can imagine the cost increases when you increase a level and the prices vary with the seasons. Whatever resort you choose you can not go wrong. They are all very nice but you will be spending most of your time in the park not in the hotel.

Keep in mind if you fly staying on property is the way to go…you will never need a vehicle. You can use Disney transportation to and from the parks and Downtown Disney and they will pick you up and return you to the airport FREE via Magic Express if you fly in and out of  Orlando International Airport (MCO). All resorts offer Disney transportation to the parks by bus, some offer monorail, or boat transportation.

Value Resorts: All offer, food courts, pools and bus services to and from the parks. prices range from approx. $82-$125

  • All-Star Movies-Disney movie themes
  • All-Star Sports- Sports Themed
  • All-Star Music – Music Themed
  • Pop Century - Icons of the decades

Campground-

  • Fort Wilderness
  • Fort Wilderness Cabins

Moderate Resorts-All offer food courts, bus services, pools (with slides) and some have a table service restaurant and lounges on premises. Prices range from approx. $149-$225

  • Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter-French Quarter Themed and Riverside is Antebellum South
  • Caribbean Beach- has a tropical theme
  • Coronado Springs – Mexico themed

Deluxe Resorts-All offer food courts,  have table service restaurants and lounges, extravagant pools, offer suites and concierge level amenities, valet parking, most rooms sleep 5 guests. Prices Range from approx. $225-$1000 or more!

  • Contemporary Resort-Modern Theming
  • Polynesian Resort-South Pacific Themed
  • Animal Kingdom Resort- African Wildlife Preserve
  • Wilderness Lodge- National Park Theming
  • Grand Floridian Resort-Victorian Themed
  • BoardWalk-Atlantic City turn of the century theming
  • Yacht and Beach Club- Martha’s Vineyard

Many things can effect the cost of the room, such as season and then Disney offers discounts. Disney often offers room only discounts that can sometimes calculate out to be better than Free Dining. Do the math and see what works for you.

**Most rooms have a limit of 4 people. If you are traveling with 5 or more All Star Music offers family suites that sometimes are comparable to paying for 2 connecting rooms but you would have a small kitchen area. Port Orleans Riverside has rooms with  trundle beds that can accommodate a child around 9 years old and under. Then there is Fort Wilderness Cabins, offer kitchens, a living area with a Murphy bed and bedroom with a bed and bunkbeds. Or you can choose a deluxe.

Let a travel agent help you they know all the deals and can help make the decisions that are right for you contact Disney World Vacations for a quote today. They can even beat booking straight from WDW itself!
